guildless is the new black

I haven’t been playing much WoW of late. I’d like to say it was through choice and I had finally broken the back of my WoW habit, but I haven’t. Life has just been too busy and too chaotic to even sit down and play for more than an hour at a time. Consequently, I haven’t been raiding and my guild commitment went through the floor. I’m sure my guild understood that life was somewhat complex and I was just never at home in front of my PC but as a founding member and a class leader… Well, I just decided that enough was enough and left. So that’s it I’m a guildless wanderer of the world.

It’s actually pretty good being beholden to no-one. I haven’t farmed, I haven’t felt the need to do dailies to buy consumables and I am starting to enjoy playing WoW again. Actually looking towards Wrath when I might have more time to play again and thinking about what I want to play. For the majority of TBC I’ve played my Blood Elf Paladin, Braegor and my Shadow Priest, Nakia. Braegor’s nicely geared as both a Protadin and a Healadin but I’m bored of him and Nakia is fun but ultimately not really enough of a challenge. So, what’s next? I’m looking to level up my rather lovely Tauren Shaman, Foxevil and also levelling a Troll Mage, called Nerissi with my other half. It’s fun playing with your partner but, honestly, I still need my WoW “away” time.

The one thing that I can say about being guildless is that the stress levels associated with end-game suddenly disappear. It can be lonely to log in without all the greetings and random chat but I find I actually do much more, rather than standing in Shattrath shooting the shit with my guildies and waiting for the next raid. I don’t feel pressured to play, I don’t do things I don’t want to do - like heroic Mech for the Nth time just because it’s the daily! I am enjoying WoW again, reminding myself why I loved wandering the plains and mountains of Azeroth and just getting a bit of “me” time. Guildless is the new black…
